christmas trees and felt polaroid ornaments
i've decided.i'm putting up my christmas tree soon.
don't shoot me just yet!
listen to my reasoning.
1. thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday.
i mean, i think it's great when you have family to be around, but we don't.
[we'll be eating dinner over at our friend nate's house, which is *awesome* because who wants to be alone for the holidays?!]
and i don't gorge myself on thanksgiving. i have never in my life gone back for seconds, except maybe to get another of my grandma's rolls.
2. we'll be out of town [aka in arizona!] from the 16th of december until christmas morning.
so when we get home to a lonely, empty house on christmas day, i just want my tree to be up to welcome me home.
3. i'm making a bunch of holiday crafts and decorations and i don't just want to store them for 2 weeks. that's pointless. although, it'll probably take me that long to do them... i have a lot to do.
4. i'm making a ton of felt food for paisley for christmas. and if i have my tree up, it'll keep me motivated to keep working on them!
5. paisley has a small christmas tree that i'm dying to put up. :)
6. we're using different ornaments on our tree this year [bye bye candy land!] and i'm dying to see how it looks! [however, i am still looking for a tree topper. our giant lollipop won't do.]
7. and i'm just excited.
8. christmas is magic.
to show you how excited i am, here are some projects i've been working on/wanna do before christmas:
i've been making pom poms for this pom pom wreath from bleubird vintage.
i wanna make some finger knit garlands for paisley's christmas tree.
i wanna make christmas tree skirts for paisley's tree and our big pink tree.i'm making something special for my brand new niece [paisley has her for christmas this year] our of this cosmo cricket fabric.
i started ornaments for p's tree last night!
this is what i came up with:
a felt faux polaroid ornament! yay!!!
this was just a sample. to see if i could do it. because i don't really "get" sewing things yet. but i'm getting there. anyway, i think i'll make a tutorial later this week to post here, if people are interested...so let me know via comment or tweet. anyway, i'm going to print pictures of family and friends and make them into cute little felt polaroids for paisley's tree this year. :) so she can always remember what they look like [she's been mixing people up lately, and i think it's because it's been so long since she's seen some of them.]
anyway, that's it!
are you anti-christmas before thanksgiving?
[my mom is. and she's probably going to give me a hard time.]
